GBQG Donates to Cedar Lake Nursing Home & Rehab
The ladies from the Gun Barrel Quit Guild presented some holiday cheer and warmth to Cedar Lake Nursing Home & Rehab of Malakoff.
GBQG Community Services, Debra Brasfield, coordinated this effort. Several handmade lap quilts and crochet blankets were presented to the residents under the direction of their Activities Director, Terrina Schmidt on Friday December 4th, 2020.
It is the mission of the GBQG Community Services to give to those in need of comfort and warmth, a touch of handmade blankets and quilts while continuing the heritage of quilting in our community. This is an ongoing activity of the GBQG to provide quilted items to local area law enforcement, charities, and those in need of support.

GBQG Donates to Tool Police Department
The Gun Barrel Quilt Guild presented Guild Tote bags to the Tool Police Department that contained handmade pillow cases and flannel blankets, and tote bags that contained Goldfish crackers and water bottles for each patrol vehicle. The bags were loaded into Police Chief Tommy Lawhon’s patrol car for distribution to the other officers.
It’s the hope, prayers, and commitment of the Guild and its members to help equip our Police Departments with the basic necessities to help and comfort the children that may encounter during police actions. The Police are the first responders for home based calls for drug enforcement actions or domestic problems. The blankets and goodies are for displaced children that may be victims of domestic violence or abuse that need immediate assistance from first responders.

GBQG Donates to Maggie's House
On September 10, 2020 the Gun Barrel Quilters Guild presented 23 quilts, 21 activity pillows, many boxes of crayons, colored pencils, activity books, pencils and sharpeners, and scissors. In addition, several food items were delivered including cases of small water bottles, food bars, goldfish, crackers , and other assorted individually packaged snack items. All of these items were made, purchased or donated by the Ladies of the Gun Barrel Quilters Guild. GBQG Donates Quilt of Valor
On February 17th, Presidents Day, an appreciation luncheon was held for our Veterans at the VFW, Post 4376, in Seven Points, Texas.At the conclusion of the luncheon, the Gun Barrel Quilt Guild led a drawing for a Quilt of Valor. The happy winner was Mr. Kevin Hallam, US Army, of Park Highland Nursing and Rehab Center, Athens. Pictured with Mr. Hallam presenting the quilt from left to right are; Joyce Duncanson, Danene Gallagher, and kneeling Stephanie Geneva. The patriotic quilt was pieced and quilted by Debra Brasfield of Tool and presented to the VFW post for the prize drawing.
Gun Barrel Quilters Guild Donates to Friends of the Animals
Sydney Busch from Friends of the Animals was at the December meeting of the Gun Barrel Quilters Guild to present the winner of their raffle quilt with the quilt that was made by GBQG member, Nanci Hines, and donated to the organization for their fund-raising efforts.
Gun Barrel Quilters Guild Donates to CASA Trinity Valley

A few of the Guild members gathered together to put together 53 Christmas bags for CASA for boys and girls. These bags along with 35 quilts and 60 pillowcases were delivered to Emily Hegland, Executive Director at CASA of Trinity Valley!
